Oshitari Yuushi
The youngest, and only boy in his family, Oshitari Yuushi led a pampered, supported and encouraged by his family through everything he did. When his older sister started piano lessons, and the soft-hearted Yuushi decided that he wanted to learn to play as well, his parents, a university doctor and stay at home mother, didn't stand in the way of their son bettering himself. Yuushi spent years playing the piano, even concentrated on the instrument throughout his grade and junior high school years.

But when his father was transferred from his job at Kansai University to Keio University in Tokyo, and his entire family was transported from their comfortable home to an upscale condo in Japan's capital, Yuushi found his love of the piano slowly dying, replaced by a new instrument, one his parents didn't quite approve of: the guitar.

With the move came new friends and a new environment. Although he did not fall in with the worst characters he could have, Yuushi certainly left behind the world of classical music and quiet tea parties for rock music and loud clubs once he entered high school. After attending a band practice with a new friend and actually picking up his friend's guitar for the first time, Yuushi saved up allowances to buy one, and pay for private lessons, not letting his parents know until he'd been playing for two years.

Despite strong objections from his parents, Yuushi continued to play, and spent his free evenings seeking out clubs that were open for all ages, so he could watch other bands perform. He had no intention of actually joining a band, assuming his life's course was already determined.

Graduating from high school a few months after his 18th birthday, Yuushi immediately started attending a prestigious university, with the pressure of his family looming behind him, who all wanted him to become a doctor, like his father, even if he wasn't happy with the thought of spending the rest of his life doing something he wasn't fond of.

During his second year in university, Yuushi met and fell in love with another musician, this one a guitar player as well, for a band that he'd discovered at a club one night. The relationship was going good - until Yuushi's parents found out and threatened to disown him if he did not leave the boy. On the verge of throwing away everything - the university tuition, the comfortable apartment, and love of his family (despite everything, Yuushi was close to them) - for the boy he was seeing, Yuushi discovered that his lover's band had won a major record deal, leaving all of them with little time for outside relationships. Troubled with a broken heart and the burden of a life he didn't want, Yuushi confronted his parents, telling them what he really wanted in his life.

Eventually his parents relented, and agreed to Yuushi's change of a major, from medical student to music student, as long as he agreed with concentrate on the piano instead of the guitar and never see another boy again.

During his last year in university, Yuushi heard of Club Abyss from classmates, and through the club, of Kousan. He approached Atobe, and was soon part of the band. He kept it hidden from his parents, just as he kept his almost nightly trips to Abyss secret as well. He recently graduated from university, and has gone on to further his studies in a graduate program, resigned to the fact that he'll probably end up teaching music theory instead of playing in a band, as he truly hopes to do.
